Firewood chute

I'm thinking of building a chute to go on my splitter so as each block goes thru the splitter it pushes the wood up the chute onto my pick up anyone ever try this I think it would work good and no moving parts or another motor to maintain and buy parts for I have a old air compressor tank I'm thinking of splitting it in half end to end and welding the two pieces together to make it long enough any thoughts on this would be appreciated

I know there was a post on here of someone working off from a hill and the truck was below them.
Reason I mentioned that, because it would kinda be the same idea. You would need to get the splitter above the truck body.

I recently watched this video, he started off with low sides but then increased the hight of the sides. Seems like it dropped a lot less blocks with the higher sides but he does end up pushing the  wood up the slide.

I have a wood splitter that has a tray on each side that travels back and forth ahead of the pusher, it catches the splits and returns them back to the operator for re-split or stacking or throwing. It takes a bit of getting use to but is quite handy and saves reaching or picking up off the ground.

some have used an old treadmill.  It is the first of the year, and there should be many on the curbs for free by February.    the best use was from pick up to shoot wood through the little basement windows that are like 1 x 3 feet and can lean in and be removed.  might work if you have 110v or inverter.  mine used a 12-v gear reduced tarp motor, although i see you were asking about no motor or moving parts.  maybe you can design a pusher that is pushed by your ram that splits the wood.  is your splitter a pusher on the ram that forces the log onto a wedge or a wedge on the ram?

Check out Wallenstien's firewood processor that uses a chainsaw and a winch to feed the logs, it also has a chute on the outfeed.

I'm interested in what you come up with as I've thought about doing something similar. My thought was a longer shallow pitched chute that was narrow enough that pieces couldn't get crosswise. The one down side to a shorter chute would be it forces it to be steeper potentially having the wood tumble back. I like the idea of not having another power source to deal with.

I think the half round shape of the air tank cut in half will keep the wood straight as it goes up the chute

The sides will need to be taller than a comparable sized powered conveyor, I would imagine.

I thought of doing the same thing a few years ago, but now I quarter my firewood on the sawmill and buzz saw to length and the wood falls on a powered conveyor. 

One thing I'd do differently than the video is have the chute come straight off the splitter and angle the entire works to to bed of the truck so the travel of the ram is inline with the chute.
