I'm going to be drying some 1x6x8' wrc for personal use and have only air dried it in the past. This round I figure on putting it in my dehumidifier kiln. The kiln has a dehumidifier from Lowe's, an oil radiator space heater and a fan. It's roughly 9'x6'x8'T   Is there anything with cedar that I need to watch out for?

I've never put any in a kiln but it is about as polite as wood gets. I have noticed that it has the lowest fiber saturation point of any wood that I've seen, around 18%. The shrinkage from green to dry is low but it happens in a narrower range. To me that says if it is critical each percent means more.

If you guys dont mind, I dont think I'm hijacking a thread as it sounds like that question was answered. A freind has asked me to dry a load of bark on, cedar logs in my Nyle L200.  For drying cedar, is it a similar schedul to Pine?  As in when the water coming out slows down, time to up the heat?  Havent found my book, so before that comment comes out, I'm in a trasition and I cant find it.   Any input would be helpful.

WRC does dry using the pine schedule but drying wood to keep the bark on is difficult. Some woods you basically can't as the heat causes it to release, others you need trees harvested at a certain time of year so it will stay on. I would look for someone who has successfully done it for advice.

I've not heard too many cases of putting whole logs in kilns.  Am I out of touch with my Kiln Bros?  The largest dimension I've put in my kilns is 8x8 doug fir timbers, and that felt like somewhat a waste of time.
