I have the tendency to think too far ahead and become disappointed when things do not work out to plan.  The weather has certainly not been cooperating with my  retirement plan of logging in the winter, saw in the spring and fall, and do other stuff in the summer.  After much frustration with the weather this year the new plan is: drop trees on rainy wet days, use the arch to move a couple logs to the sawmill early in mornings on days when ground is a bit frozen, saw in the afternoon when the ground is thawing out.  The Ash 4x4 are moving as fast as I can saw them, the balance firewood is in a back log.  Oak sawmill logs is on hold for now pending mud.  Overall things are going well.  Delivered 40 4x4 this afternoon which alone keeps me in the green for having fun.

I need to thin my 20 acres and got set up to sell the white fir (I have no market for WF lumber) to a local mill in October. Well, October and November were busy with mobile milling jobs, December dumped snow and January so far has been busy with custom orders. To this point I haven't skidded a single log. Maybe I'll get a couple loads out in February or March 🤷‍♂️

I used to saw 8/4 ash for butcher block counter tops and bench tops.  They kiln dried and resawed to match their quality guidelines.  The upper grades gave them the best yield for the dollar.
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large groups.
