Loaded these cedar logs yesterday from a job site we are grinding on. These are some of the smaller logs we have off of this place. Average 8 foot log measured 14 inches at the small end with the largest being 18 inches. These are some one of kind cedar logs in western Oklahoma. Too nice to process into show cattle bedding and mulch!!

This front bunk has 25 footers on it  could have put a few more but driver had whimpy side stakes

This back bunk has 17 footers. Total load scaled out to about 3500 feet. Would have liked to get a little over 4000 feet but again trucker didn't have the proper stakes like he was supposed to have.

That's some great look'in cedar--- we don't have any up in this country that comes close to those timbers. 3' steel pocket stakes is all DOT requires for haul'in pipe. Next time you send a load out like that, set the logs on some 4X4 dunnage and have the driver belly wrap (chains) 2 lifts, front and rear and you can ship out twice the amount of logs. I see fellas strap'in down log loads with those straps and wonder how DOT lets them run that way.

I wasn't in charge of the trucking the customer was and they had a last minute change in companies coming. I had the back bunk pipe stakes made and they were a lot stronger.

Straps are perfectly legal for load securement, as long as you had enough for the weight of the load you're hauling. I preferred straps over chains, as they could be quickly winched tighter after driving a while if the load settles.
