Heard for a several years how we now have ticks in our area.
Found 1 on the Golden about 5 years ago, none since.
Until tonite, the 4 yo had 1 in her hair, another found on the kitchen rug. Not good. Going to mean a big lfestyle change for everyone.

I see your from Michigan. I would have thought ticks would be common everywhere. There's not many places in MN they don't reside except for downtown in the cities.
Change is hard....
Especially when a jar full of it falls off the top shelf and hits your head!

They came here maybe 10 years ago? Only found 1-2 the first few years they showed up. Keeps getting worse each year.  :(

I hear Ivermectin is actually pretty effective against ticks, at least in dogs. Many of the local farmers give their dogs a squirt as they are dosing their sheep / cattle. But they are buying it by the litre to dose 100s of cows. A 1/4 dose on the dog is only .50 cents. Might need a dose every month or 2 during the season, but it takes out fleas and worms as well.

My dog was picking them up bad in the Spring and than they would crawl on me.  I found I could spray him with Sawyer permethyrin about every six weeks in tick season and he won't get them.
