My wife bought this one at a yard sale for 5 bucks.  I mounted on a cedar board and 4x4 post by the garden.

After my MIL passed we moved their Picnic Table here that they had at the homestead for decades.  My BIL had put new wood on it a few years back but the metal frame is pretty much shot.  I'll make one from wood and transfer it over at some point.  I built this cedar 2 holer Birdhouse in honor of the site.  We put it aside in an area surrounded by Spruce and Blueberry bushes.  It's a destination when we ride around the property.
I haven't seen any birds in it yet.  Perhaps they don't like condo living.

I use 1-1/2 for bluebirds and 1-1/4 for others, and 1-1/8 specifically for wrens.

Good looking design.

I went to a machine shop today and his next door neighbor had this bird condomahal.

Right here, it would be very unlikely that more than one pair of birds would occupy those houses.

Here, they just don't like neighbors that are too close!

My daughter got me this one for fathers day last year. She commissioned from a Gentlemen up in Northern Quebec that builds unique bird houses. It matches my Log Cabin.I also Have the bat house on the other pole.

this was a gift and made by Al, father to Debra my office manager in the 90s out in Fort Hays KS.  He works as a ground's keeper at the college.  He started making wood duck nesting boxes, and after making 200, the creek that ran through campus was deemed a federal sanctuary.  He had a pet pigeon he rescued after it fell from a nest and would fly alongside his truck for blocks each morning as he drove to work.  and a squirrel he raised from a baby, that he could call by clicking his voice and it would sit and shake hands with him.

Mooseherder, the aluminum house with many compartments is a Purple Martin house. They are colonial nesters.

I note that most of the birdhouse presented here do not have protective baffles to prevent ground based predators like snakes and raccoons.  Having had a 7-house bluebird trail for 25 years, my experience is that these critters take their toll.  The wrens are territorial, and fill up nesting boxes just to keep anybody from using them, even if they don't nest there themselves.  I didn't have a problem with House sparrows, as my boxes were well away from man-made structures, to which they are very attracted.  But, beware of boxes mounted on a wall or on top of a wood beam or a telephone pole.  Once found, those nests, and sometimes the adult birds inside of them, are in real jeopardy.
My father once said, "This is my son who wanted to grow up and become a doctor.  So far, he's only become a doctor."

One of the toughest challenges with laying out a bluebird trail is trying to locate them in good bluebird habitat where there are no House Sparrows. Raccoons, prior to 1993, were very abundant here and got a lot of nests. Snakes are not a common problem here. I did see, and photograph, a Black Rat Snake today that I estimate was ~5 feet long. Cold snaps can be lethal to nestlings here.

My sister in law gave us this one.  It's made from bark except for the 3/8 slats base and one side.  Pretty neat find.  Wish I knew more about it.
