When I look down the list of missing parts.
The throttle cable has an elastic cord wrapped around it to hold position. I mean to get a choke cable to replace it. We've freed up the clutch several times. The carbon canister built into the fuel tank dribbles charcoal into the vent, plugging it and stalling the engine when it creates a vacuum on the tank till I remember and rod it out again. The hour meter does read rpms but I think we have something like 500 hours on the machine... for the past 5 years or so.

All to say I wouldn't worry too much about keeping it OEM, those were bought goods and not of special quality.

We were working yesterday for the carpenters on a beautiful old family farm. It was a sunny warm day. As we had lunch overlooking the river and into the Carolina high country I asked about the place. It was a Revolutionary War soldiers grant from her family's side. I might just do this for the stories we get to hear.
