Used be a person was thought to have tools to do the job if he or she ordered parts or something that required assembly.

Not anymore!  I'm being overrun by odd sized Allen wrenches, cheap screwdrivers and sheet steel stamped wrenches.  They are going to the scrap metal bin later this week.

Every bag of parts, batteries,  fasteners and anything that needs assembly are shipped with cheap tools.

The latest is this bag of fasteners for the plastics on my ATV.  It came with this stubby screwdriver.

A bag of 100 was $11.00 shipped. BTW the dealer wanted $10 for a set for my ATV.

they are worth what you pay for them... nothing.  I am known for not throwing much away but will give it away.  I do have a variety of tools.  I have high end USA made Allen wrenches, and some from harbor freight for less pristine uses.  And still have stuff I bought when I had no money.  I actually bought a set of thin wrenches to use on the planer gib bolts and to tighten casters on the pneumatic stools I use in the shop. I agree, the stuff that comes with shelves and furniture for the office, cheap, but will leave it with the extra components like for TV brackets that have a ton of variety so they can boast being universal.

It's a waste!!  Someone designed them, manufactured them, shipped them to a vendor, packaged them with a product and shipped them to me.  All that does cost something, just for me to toss them in the scrap metal bin.  I'd rather pay $0.50 cents less.

It rubs my fur the wrong way!

On the flip side is someone receiving the kit with fasteners but has no "wrench" that fits, and none in the drawer that fits correctly. Probably the company packing the fasteners has experienced enough calls that assembly cannot be completed because no wrench or knowledge.

Have a sil who has not a wrench to his name nor how to use one, even a screw driver. Daughter has to do that work for him.

Good idea to just pitch them, and one I need to pay attention to as the "pile" of Allen wrenches is big enough to be in the way.

Hey Sawyer Ted, mind letting me know if this kit was specific to your ATV and where you found it? I'm missing three or four fasteners on my Kawasaki Mule and would appreciate having a kit with a selection of the different sizes. THANKS!

After checking with the dealer and getting sticker shock I checked Amazon.  Yep, they had 100 generic pieces )plus a screwdriver).  They were $11, with points applied, $0.

I'll never use 100 pcs between my son's ATV and mine but who knows what else I might use them for.

I keep assortments of those pop pins in the mechanic shop.  I don't think there is a whole lot of any size, but I've needed some once in a while for probably every vehicle in the family including Pam's new car was missing one.  Some on my truck are not good at being re-used.

As far as any included wrenches and such with new stuff, I keep them long enough to match sizes in real tools and then toss them.
