Not my recipe but from a guy on a men's forum I'm in.  It's a good recipe. I usually double it and do it in the Crock pot.  I fry the garlic, onion, and ground beef first and let it go in the crock pot 3-5 hours.  Tweak it to your taste.  I like the Hunt's fire roasted canned tomato.

TrubadorPhoto's chili recipe:
Chop half an onion and several cloves of garlic. In a frying pan with olive oil, lightly cook/brown the garlic and onion, then add 1 pound of 85% lean ground beef. Drain the grease & water. Set aside. In a crockpot, put in
1 can of kidney beans
1 can of diced tomatoes
1 small can of tomato paste
approx 8 oz of beef broth.
half of a green bell pepper, chopped
Set the crockpot to Low for minimum of 5 hours. Add the ground beef with garlic and onion.
My spice choices (all to taste):
Chili Powder
Paprika
Chipotle Power
Freshly ground Black Pepper
Himalayan or Kosher Salt (to taste)
Basil flakes
Parsley flakes
How much of the spices to use? I start off with approx 1 teaspoon each of chili powder and chipotle powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of paprika (or smoked paprika). 1 tablespoon each of basil and parsley. Quarter teaspoon of salt and pepper, I just do those to taste. I tend to keep the salt minimal to start (and I use no-salt diced tomatoes). About 3-4 hours in I'll taste the chili to see if it needs a bit more of any of the herbs & spices, and will add more at that point, stir and cover.
Stir well, then cover and let it brew. You can stir occasionally (like, once an hour) if you want. At 30 minutes before it's done, I stir in a teaspoon or two of corn starch to help thicken, if necessary. Fill a bowl, and top your bowl of chili with your shredded cheese of choice and maybe some sour cream. Fresh French bread, baguette, or sour dough bread for dipping or good old Saltines.
Anything someone can design, I can sure figure out how to fix!
If I say it\\\\\\\'s going to take so long, multiply that by at least 3!

Sounds great on a cold day with a cinnamon roll and a beer.

I ate chili for many years without beans, actually since childhood.  I was not being a bean snob, just didn't know any better.

I'll never go back to being bean free again.  ffcool

I had neighbors that were vegetarians in college.  had me over for dinner with meatless chili.  some of the beans were very sweet.  turns out they added raisins and they swole up and looked like beans.  better than it sounds.
