Quote from: mudfarmer on July 09, 2024, 08:55:55 AMThe freezers have a big draw when the compressor kicks in, but it does not last long. Make sure your inverter(s) are sized to allow startup load of everything and not just running load, when two freezers and two fridges all conspire to kick on their compressors at the same time.
I am finding less then a kw per day per freezer and by about  1pm the battery  is full again. That will give me a couple  cloudy days buffer.  After  that I need to figure out how to gather the extra dumped panel  power in the summer.  Wondering if you save yours.  I was thinking  maybe a water heater with dc coils to put it to use. That won't  be an issue  in the winter though.

I don't have anything automatic setup for extra summer storage, just timing of loads. Sunny afternoon is a good time to make sure all 10,000 cordless tool batteries are charged up, reload the fridge with warm beers, do some loads of laundry and scheme on ways to make $$ to buy more storage batteries ffcheesy

Been running 2 freezers and now grow lights all winter with the 2 panels and portable 100 ah cart. Works good and with  electricity rates jumping from 14 cents a KWH to 26.5 cents a KWH the last couple months really helping with the bill. Had 12 days with zero sun that showed me solar is not reliable in winter.
Finally  getting going on the bigger system.  Started building racking for 10 550 watt panels on a trailer . Making adjustable between 18 and 48 degrees for seasonal changes.  Long covid coming back has really slowed me down again.

Well it survived 50 mph winds today with no problems. Should  have everything running this coming weekend. The small 2 panel system has been running 2 freezers and grow lights the last couple months.  Darn winter won't quit. I'm starting  to think the long covid I got from the vax never  goes  away  completely.  It just lingers and can come back strong at any time.

Quick video about the trailer.  Our electricity rate jumped to 29.3 cents per KWH delivered on today's bill and this stuff may eventually pay for itself eventually.  Was 14 cents per KWH delivered a little over a year ago but our governor deregulated delivery charges That has over doubled everyone's electricity bills. Playing with solar is like being addicted to crack. You keep wanting more.
