All truth passes through three stages:
   First, it is ridiculed;
   Second, it is violently opposed; and
   Third, it is accepted as self-evident.

Same here!
The local Plywood mill used to give out salt pills in the 80's.  Somewhere around then they stopped becuase they were found to be unhealthy in excess.  Now I go with electrolytes and potassium. ;D  My grandpa always wore long sleeve thermal underwear said it kept him cooler.  When I worked at the plywood plant I noticed a lot of the older guys wore them as well and one of them finally gave me a reason that made since.  The material once wet held the moisture better than say just a cotton shirt and the thermals stayed right against their skin.   So they stayed cooler once they were soaken wet. ???  It makes sense kind of when you consider that if you fall in water when it is say 35degs you are suppose to take off your wet clothes thermals and all.  That is evaporating water cools you off thermals or not.  I may have to try thermals some time this summer if I have somebody standing by with ice packs for when I have my heat stroke. ;D
Brad, the whole long sleeve, soaking wet thing is why I just about won't saw cresote in the summer. ;D  I can't stand that dust stinking to me.

Well, earlier I promised some pics so here are a couple.
Tom, I get my hats for about 4.50 also.  And a few jokes at me and my hat's expense sure won't make me take it off in the broad open sun either. ;D

Here is one cool idea that may not be practical "on the road". Although I think they make some coolers that plug in.

Just Thursday,  Brooke came into the sawshed when we'd stopped and opened the refrigerator door.  I though she was just getting a drink of water.  But she kind of stepped closer into the opening and lingered – making it obvious she was just there to enjoy the cool air escaping into the all out doors.

Mary snapped at her to get out of there.  She closed the door but then argued that she was hot and the cool air felt good and opened the door again.  Mary repeated her order – this time with more emphasis.  Brooke again closed the door and said, "Why don't we get an air conditioner out here?  We's got lots of plugins..."   ::)

Heh, I just remembered one of our favorite tricks for beating the heat when I was a teenager in Southwestern Illinois "bucking bales".  8)  We used to take an empty plastic gallon milk jug, rinse it out good, fill it to within about 3" of the top with water, put it in the deep freeze for a day or so, then put it in the hay truck when we went into the field.  You could have ice cold water all day long without a cooler. 8) 8)  One gallon was about right to get you through the heat of the day. 8)  And my favorite was that the jug was sweating ice cold condensation all day, so you could put that jug up against the back of your neck or grab a bunch of that condensation to rub on your face to cool off. 8) 8)  Some guys would keep a towel wrapped around the jug all day to catch the condensation, then they'd have an ice cold wet towel to wipe their faces down all day long. 8) 8)  It was cheap and effective. 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

Okay guys,  there you go and no extra charge. ;D ;D ;D ;D
