Speaking of metal in logs, there was one on the Forum a while back where they felled it onto a metal fence post, and it broke off "high" up the tree.

The tree was felled across a fence driving the T post into the tree.  Then when the log was skidded out the post broke off below the bark.  This was about 46 feet from the stump because I had already sawn two 20' logs and this was in the third log.

You can see in the second picture where the wood fibers are broken and driven inward into the tree.

Gladly the customer allowed me to chainsaw this out to keep as a trophy.

Sadly the customer would not let me have that wrench but at least I have pictures.

I just started running the .55th dbl hards and sawing lots of pine.The odd time I have salvaged a blade, but it was a small nail or such, screws no way. I just did 8mbf of B&B siding and lost 4 blades.  All my logs are from the arborist. Lots of hardware. I don't pay for logs that are metal strikes, sometimes I still get lumber out of them but I usually send them back if I scan and find metal, even if its surface metal as I have found more metal in the logs deeper. It seems that was great location at the home for holding hardware.

I'm sawing and selling this pine like crazy. 2 new orders a day plus Market place sales. I had to have the log buyer reach out to one of their other pine mills to see what they have.
I have a truck hired to go next week and get a load from that mill. It's over an hour away from my place.

Yesterday afternoon my load from the other mill hit the yard . Straight truck and pup filled with barkless pine. Started another order for boards this morning.
