I heard about a new study they did on obesity.  They said that 7 of the top 10 states with the most fatties was in the South and Southeast.  Colorado was the leanest.

My question is how do grits fit into this picture?   :D
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large groups.

Parents put grits on their kids plate and say eat em or starve.  Kids are pretty headstrong in Colorado.

Grits fit because it's the only thing we don't deep fry. ::)

It's because the South has more recipes worth eating than the north.  Great food was invented in the South! 8)    I mean, in a Southern Zoo, you'll find recipes posted on all the cages along with the name of the animal. ;D

Where do Grits fit in? Right next to the eggs and sausage links next to the slab of scrapple! ;D

I think for once I am going to stay out of this one...  ::)
So, how did I end up here anyway?

I don't know for sure and has nothing to do with grits, but I think all the lazy fatties from up north now live in south FL.  That would kinda mess up the research. ;D

Southern food is so good, its worth eat'n even if'n ya aint hungry 8)

Okay, I resisted for one posting.... Almost a record for me.  ;)

Grits = corn, corn fed cows = fatter cows

See a connection...  ???

I hope everyone knows I was joking... I don't mean to offend anyone.

I was 75 lbs heavier when I left south FL so you can figure me into those statistics too.

I look like I could live inthe south.

My Mother was a great southern cook from Allendale South Carrolina. Most of her dishes started with
"Bacon Drippins, If you don't have any just fry some bacon in your pan before you start".

That was usually the first thing she said when explaining a recipe.

How could some one not have bacon drippings??

I thought every one just dumped the grease off into an old jelly jar that is kept on the window sill.

I bet our jelly jar is at least 30 years old.... granmother gave it to me with about 3 inches of the good stuff in it... I'm sure it has not been washed since the day the last of the jelly was used.
