Oooops! There should have been an up with that save......as in: save UP a few more $$$. ::)
Yeah, the bigger window cost LOTS more $$$!  :o

I don't have any windows on the wall the door is in, so I decided to install an old door until I can afford the one with a bigger window.

I put the arched top 3/4 window, door by the same manufacture, in for my parents this past spring. Only it wasn't pre finished, my mom stained it. It lets in TONS more light then the old door.

I make my own finish out of mineral spirits, linseed oil, wax, and zinc sulfate and zinc oxide.  How long it will hold up remains to be seen, but it is cheap and I will be keeping an eye on it, and recoat as needed.

I also treated my siding with a borate soulution, front and back before installing.

CK, how is your finish holding up? Would you mind sharing the recipe?

It's still shedding water real good.   I made up almost four five gallon buckets of the stuff and sprayed my siding and my porches and my rails with it.  I sprayed it heavy and let it soak in good after a long dry spell.  You'll have to give me a little while to find out the recipe, I've got it posted somewhere on the FF if I can find it, except i went back and added the zinc to the recipe  to help with ultraviolet rays damaging the wood.  Hang on, I'll see if I can find it.

Here is a link to where the recipe is posted.  I mixed mine with mineral spirits and as I said I added some zinc to the mix, just kinda guessed at it.   :)
