Luke Z.

I'm doing a report for school & I need to know the following about White Pine Stumpage in Michigan, perferably.  When a land owner sells stumpage. How does he get paid. By the plup cord? About how much would he get paid? What would the average yield be per acre? What would the mill pay for delivered logs? Then finally. What would most White Pine lumber be used for?  Thanks to anyone who can help me. Even with just part of the questions.......  Luke

Good questions, and can you tell us the 'purpose' of the report?  That will help with the answers. Have you picked a title for the report? Or what is the assignment?

Welcome to the forum. How did you come by this forum as a place for answers (cause you came to the right place :) ).

Also, where are you located since stumpage prices vary by location and areas?

Also check the Michigan DNR site at http://www.michigan.gov/dnr

Put some key words for your questions in the site's Search area. Type in white pine stumpage prices and you should get the latest prices for the area you are located in etc.

Welcome LUKE Z. you have come to THE place. This is THE best place to research answers to all questions about logging, growing, milling, cutting, sawing buying, selling..... You get the point. I don't know anything and I can prove it!, but there are people on here who do know the answers on all of the above plus food and most everything else. :P
logging small time for years but just learning how,  2012 36 HP Mahindra tractor, 3point log arch, 8000# class excavator, lifts 2500# and sets logs on mill precisely where needed, Woodland Mills HM130Max , maple syrup a hobby that consumes my time. looking to learn blacksmithing.

white pine can be used for lumber, panneling, pulp for paper, and other things it mainly grows in the moutains here in SC.  as for stumpage prices that is regionally and daily as far as prices go, i am so far away from your market and have no personal experience with white pine so no help there.  How much yield per acre or $/acre all depends on the stocking of the stand being cut, and the silvicultural practice being used ie. clear cut, thinned ... etc.
