Looks successful to me. Nice going.

What were you winching it in with?

Or pulling with the tractor?

the milemarker on my truck.  a tractor would be nice too, provided you have a screen or whatever to avoid a headach if the cable breaks...

i drug out several pines that way, it was doing pretty well, but I should probably brace up the arch if I do it too much.

I can change my profile okay. No errors. If you can,t remove all the extra info in other fields and try.

Looks pretty good. But I agree with you if you are going to do alot, it may bend your arch. I have seen similar tripods that farmers have used to pull stumps and every once and a while you would see a pretzle also. :D

logging small time for years but just learning how,  2012 36 HP Mahindra tractor, 3point log arch, 8000# class excavator, lifts 2500# and sets logs on mill precisely where needed, Woodland Mills HM130Max , maple syrup a hobby that consumes my time. looking to learn blacksmithing.

Looks good, what does the arch do, keep the butt end from digging into the ground once you start winching?

Dan_Shade

yes, it lifts up the butt and lets you drag it out nice and easy.

Nice video.

Just for your information, if you are worried about a cable snapping and recoiling back and hitting you, place a jacket over the winch cable. If the cable does snap, the jacket will keep the cable from recoiling back. Obviously you want to keep the jacket somewhere in the middle of the winch line.

Again, not trying to be a know it all, just thought I would pass along this piece of safety advice until you can get a protective measure up on your truck/ tractor.
