15 White Pine lost in storm

There is a guy 30 mi. from me who just lost 15 white pine. They are supposed to be 24" in dia. I think I can get them free. Are they worth going to get? I could take my tractor and lift boom and load them a few at a time onto my trailer, if they are not too heavy. I can lift about 1000# with the boom. I would take my portable sawmill, but.....it is not ready to cut yet.  Thanks,  Trent

the amish mills around me are buying straight white pine logs for 130 cord..(10" and up...12' long)

Westwood lumber just west of English Indiana is buying white pine sawlogs.  Makes beautiful paneling too.  Very light weight because it grows so fast in our area.

So long as they were blown over roots and all you should be fine. if they broke off, I'd be a little concerned. We lost some nice ash and walnut in the storm, they all broke off, so they headed for firewood. OK, funny story about Westwood Lumber, I called Jeff cause I knew he sawed pjne (kinda rare in these parts) I was making some big wedges, and need enough logs to saw 10 cants that measured at least 12"x12"x12' he said he had some big logs that might make 12x12's. so they arrive here at my mill, everyone of them measured over 30" and some were close to 48" biggest pine logs I'd ever sawed. I thnk I ended up using 4 of them for the wedges.

If you can't saw them real soon peal them soon or the borers will start drilling.
Don't know how your weather is but saw or peal 1st of may no later in upstate ny.

  That is dirt cheap what the amish are paying.  That must be numbers 2 and 3 logs.  Here in maine,  were getting about 650.00 per thousand for number 1's.  750 for veneer. 8) 8) 8)
