Good evening all!  Whew, getting sick is no fun.  Looks like I'm going to make it afterall.  The doc says the bloodclots seem to have cleared up and I've been released to SAW WOOD again.  And none too soon.  I went out to the yard this morning and someone dropped off a whole bunch of cedar logs and I had a note that a fella is bringing some red oak by tomorrow.  Great weather too. ;D  Man its great to be alive. :D

congrats on getting released. What sizes do yuo saw the cedar? normally.

CHARLIE

I'm mighty glad to hear you are finally better. That was some serious stuff you had. I remember back when you were thinking of buying a mill, you were wondering how to drum up business. Now they are dropping the logs at your doorstep! :o 8)

Joey,
I'm glad you're back at it,and back here again.

:D  Charlie, that seems so long ago, but it hasn't even been a year yet.  Well, I thought I was a goner there for awhile.  The clot would break up and then reform.  I believe they got the medication right now though and I feel better than I have in years..  I went out and counted the logs this morning.  I have better than 100 cedar logs to saw and a truck load of red oak on its way this morning.  Hey Paul, thanks for the encouragement.  I'll be posting more often now.  Sawbilly, I try to keep the tops around the 10-12" minimum on the cedar.

Joey,
I know when I was sick last summer and out for a few weeks how things piled up.  You just jump in and soon you will find the bottom of the pile.  Bibbyman and I told you that getting the work would not be the problem.  The problem is when you do a good job and the work keeps comming and comming and comming.
Best of health to you and just keep making sawdust and all will be right in the world.

JoeyLowe,
Were did your bloodclot form? Has your doctor found cause of  clot? What are you taking for clot?  I had a clot form in my lower leg and grew up to my groin, a peice broke loose and went into my lung (pulmonary embolism). I have been on coumond(sp) rat poison for over a year and half and am not back to were I was before the clot. Glad to hear you are feeling better.

JoeyLowe

Hey David:  Thanks for the good word!  Also have the red oak and more cedar to contend with now.  Fella shows up with the red oak yesterday and brings a friend with him who had a trailerload of the big and prety cedar.

Regarding the blood clot, it came from my left leg, broke off and went to my lung (pulmonary embolis).  I was very fortunate that the doctors knew eactly what they were doing and they actually were able to control the clot as it was moving. I was initially on Lovenox (an injectable anticollagant) and Coumidin.  Now I just take the Coumidin (10mg) a day and my pro # is staying around 2.5 which is exactly what the doc wants.  This stuff really works.  I've cut myself twice and the last time I bled for 2 days. (in fact, I'm still bleeding from it.)  Doc says that is normal.

Anyway, today is a beautiful day and I'm glad to be hear and I'm headed out back to saw.

JoeyLowe,
It sounds like you went through the same procedure as I did with the clot. I thank the dear Lord every day that I am still here. I was spitting up blood for 2 weeks, the doc was treating me for flu, then thought that I had throat cancer. One morning, I woke up with my leg swelled up, they put me right into the hospital.  I would like to get off of the Coumidin, but am afraid of another clot.
You got to change the way you are doing things because of getting a bad cut, even a nose bleed requires a trip to the doctor.
Sound like you are going to have enough logs to keep you busy. How are your winters in Texas? Is it all mud or are you in the drought bowl?

JoeyLowe

Hi Don:

Being alive is great and I won't ever take it for granted again.  Worldly problems pale in comparision to taking your last breath.  When I went to the ER, they initially diagnosed me with pneumonia.  Fortunately, a visiting Dr. was present and requested additional tests to include a lung scan.  Very scarey thing.

I'm located 60 miles SW of Texarkana and 150 miles due east of Dallas, Texas.  We are the area that Texans refer to as the Piney Woods.  Outsiders call it the Ark-La-Tex.  Mud or drought depends on the year.  Right now we have been enjoying our fair share of rain, but the temps have been holding to 60 in the day and 40 at night.  Supposed to be unusally wet and cold this winter. Remember though, in Texas, winter is usually the last week of December and the first week of January.  The rest of the year is summer.  We don't get Spring and Fall here.  ;D

Hey Joey. Good to see ya postin again. Sick ain't fun. Had the dreaded "tick fever" while living in Arky land. 1 reason for leaving there.

Ennyhoo, maybe ya oughta invite some of them "Yankee" types to help ya saw, instead of hidin indoors all winter.  :D :D :D :D :D
