I was doing my habitual sawmill surfing a little while back and came across this bandmill.  It's built in Quebec and I thought it was different enough to bring to the attention of this esteemed forum.  What would be the practical limitations of this design?  There are videos to view (though I recommend turning down your PC speakers  Violin_smiley ).

thats just cool as owl manure!!! some neat features and no log dogging??? i couldn't tell how they advanced the log for the next cut surely not by adjusting both ends. i saw another handle in the middle it may advance both end gears???? pretty slick.

One thing it certain it is a different design.  That is for sure.  I wonder how well it would work with less-than-round logs????

That's what I was wondering, also.  I'd think butt logs would be a challenge.  Would be sweet for softwoods that are straight and more uniform in diameter.  Hardwoods?  I dunno.

I had seen this company demonstaring this machine at a show in Bancroft a couple years back. Strikes me as a better than average macine. Thing I don't like about it is that you are stuck picking lumber up off the ground.

Hud-son builds a similar style of machine. I had seen in one of the trade mags that D&L Double cut had built one using circular with an edger integral on the trailer. Mind you, you wouldn't be pulling that mill around behind the old F150.
