It is good to interest in the Hybrid. To answer some of the questions of how we get around some of the problems in the auto industry.
Brakes no longer have brake shoes on electric hybrids but are stopped normally with the motors reversing there role and becoming generators.
The Batteries are heavy and Toyota uses Sodium based batteries.
The Hydraulic system using acumulators also are no different than the battery but the inginutity of how to get stored energy is the key.
The industry is also going very quicky to a 42 volt battery system whaic will allow the deleation of the cam shaft being replaced by valve soiliniods. This will allow multi cylinder engines to run with reduced cylinders but with out the problems of the past.
Good to see the info

I found this thread to be very interesting. Is there any more follow up or additional information since the last post? My perspective has always been,,if someone invented or built an enigne that was radically different in simplicity or in fuel economy,,the big auto companies would hush it up. i might sound a bit pessimistic but between big business and polititions were all nothing but pawns in the game of life.,,,,,,,,,,,,,bedway ;)
