I've been coming to your forum from time to time just to read and learn little. I've got a small logging business I run on the side and am currently looking to step up to a bigger saw.  I stopped by the local dealer/ repair shop today to see if they had any used saws.  Nothing at this time but they'll call me if a big saw comes in.

Anyway I noticed a 575 on the shelf, decent looking saw.  I came back to my office and clicked onto the site hear and noticed a few, uhh, less than flattering remarks about the 575s.  Before I shell out money for one, what are the problems associated w/ them?  Thanks.

The biggest issue is that the 575 weighs more than the saw it replaces....the 372. The 575 also has a different powerband than the 372.........wider and a little lower in the RPM range.

I am sure more will chime in on this!

Blue duck, why not a ms440 or ms 460? They are both strong, reliable saws that are easy to maintain and service. Both saws can easily handle a 32" bar if needed. Just a thought.

I'd really rather stay with a Husky because because I hear they and the Stihl are about the same but local saw shop is a Husky dealer and they give me great service when I need it.  I carried my 455 in a couple weeks ago wit hte handle broke off.   He put down the saw he was working on, fixed mine and sharpened a couple chains for me.  I was ready to go in 20 minutes with a piece of his wifes german chocolate cake in my belly and $15 for his labor.  If it had been a stihl I'd have waited a week for the parts to come in.  I told him I 'd like atleast a 365 but would prefer a 372 or a 385.  I just wondered why the 575 had been kind of a flop so far based on what I've read on here.  Thanks for the suggestions fellows.

If you can hold off awhile, Husky is due to have the 390XP. Basically a 90cc version of the 385.

Also, take a look at the Dolmar 7900............bigtime power to weight ratio!!!

BlueDuck, the 575 has a poor power to weight ratio. In layman's terms, it's too DanG  heavy.

Bailey's and Madsen's are selling the 372's right now for pretty decent price, this is the last time they will be available I guess.

Take a look around on ebay.

The biggest problems currently with the 575 are that #1.- The PTO side main bearing is blowing out after a relatively short time, say like around 120 hours runtime. #2. is that the earliest models of 575s are having problems with the carburetors not flowing enough fuel even with the limiting caps removed and the low speed screw turned out three or four turns. It seems the carbs are developing an internal leak.
