I recently took my Pioneer P51 in for service.  The mechanic was unable to get the saw to fire, he was also unable to find parts for the saw.  Does anyone know where I can get parts for this saw?  It is like brand new.  Thank you...

Try chainsawr.com, if they don't have the part, they should know what will fit it, good luck, i see ebay has parts to.
Third generation logger, owner operator, 30 yrs felling experience with pole skidder. I got my neck broke back in 89, left me a quad. The wife kept the job going up to 96.

Pioneer disappeared almost 25 years ago. Parts are available but you will need to do considerable searching. If you want a hobby and enjoy tinkering old saws are fun. If you want a working saw, forget the old stuff and look at a newer Dolmar, Stihl, Husqvarna, Echo or Jonsered. These are quality units with good support.

I have a p52 plus and it looks and runs like new.  It will keep up with any stihl o46 out there.  I put an 8 tooth sprocket to speed it up and it pulls like you wouldn't believe.  I've had brand new stihls and huskys and i like this old p52 better, although it is heavy.  Don't let anyone tell you that newer is better.  Those guys are usually arm chair loggers who have only ever cut a few cords of firewood.
Parts are available for sure.  Carb parts can be bought at baileys and you can still get brand new starters and coils as well.  I live in Ontario and thats where these saws were built so there are lots of used parts around here for them.  Most of the local small engine shops even carry air filters for them in stock.

Thanks for the reply.I have not found a better easyer starting running saw than the pioneers but a little heavy.I would like to find anigniton coil and parts as 3 of my saws have no or broken chain brakes. Where are you located in Ontario? I,m presently in Bayfield by Goderich. Ken Hughes  forrest@cabletv.on.ca

Pioneer was never a big player in these parts when McCulloch and Homelite ruled the roost but they were pretty good saws in spite of that .

Old powerfull saws are a hoot to run .However if you run them you'd best get used to working on them .While it's not impossible to find parts sometimes that becomes a real chore .If anyone can testify to that as being fact it would be me .

I live on the East side of Algonquin Park.  Pioneers are very common around here.  There arn't many parts saws though since they are mostly still running :)
Are you sure it isn't just the coil wire?  They are known to rub against the case.  Another thing could be the switch shorting out.  Don't give up too easily !
