My daughter wants me to build a school bus for her playground.  I have been scouring the internet for some plans but have been unsuccessful.  She is 4 years old and I would like to build something that she can fit in the side door, sit at the wheel and have a couple seats and maybe an exit at the rear.  Anyone know where I can purchase plans somewhat like this?

Hmmm. How are you at you at transposing and enlarging? School Bus

Too bad you can't put her off a couple years. She's gonna have enough of school buses pretty soon ;)
The oil is all in Texas, but the dipsticks are in D.C.

Snag, on U.S. 2 on the way from our place to Chet and Judy's is a wooden play schoolbus at a Restaurant in Manistee. We are heading Towards Chets on Monday for Tammy's spring break and easter. I'll try my best to remember to stop and take as many pictures as I can of it. Not as good as plans, but I bet you can make it work. :)

On a side note about Easter, I was told that Chet had reached the age where he could hide his own easter eggs. ;D

I sure would appreciate that Jeff.  Thanks.

He can hide em, but then can he find em again....?

Snag

kevjay, it may come down to that.  I could plot it in microstation or autocad and then have it enlarge it to whatever proportions I needed.  thanks.

Jeff

As I remember, this school bus was like a small play house similar to what you might want. There were several things there, all made out of pressure treated lumber.

Here ya go Snag!  :)  You realize what I got myself into know dontcha?  TAMMY WANTS ONE! :D After the pictures are some rough dimensions.

Length of passenger compartment, not counting hood or front bumber 11' 8"

Width not counting wheel trim: 3' 6"

height, measured in back, outside edges: 4' 8 1/2"
height, measured in back, center: 4' 11"  (these two measurements should give you a roof shape)

window openings were 1' 5" square divided by a 5 1/4 inch board.

Length of front hood (engine compartment)  2' 4"

Height of hood from top of the front bumper is 1' 10 1/2"  NOT counting the 2 by 4 trim around the front edge, 2' overall counting it.

Wheels are 1' 9" in diameter.

Are you going to try to grow that SYP up there? :D

I thought they went Ud'n ud'n!  :P ;D

That's really cool. I have been wanting to build a full scale caboose for years. Kind of like a guest room. This bus gives me inspiration to dream, since that is about as far as I will probably ever git :D

Now I want one!! :D :D :D
I hope my ship comes in before the dock rots!

Snag

Wow.  Thanks Jeff.  You sure went above and beyond.  My daughter just saw the pics and loves it.  Hope Tammy enjoys the one you build her as much as my daughter does.  Thanks again.

Kevjay - I actually looked for a caboose for a few years to remdel and turn into a guesthouse.  The only ones I could find were rediculously priced.  If you ever get to building it make sure you post some pics....

Patty

The school bus is really cool. It brought back memories of a playground I used to play in...they had a fire truck and a train for us to play on. It was great fun.

DanG, Furby beat me to the punch. :D :D That looks good, especially with Wildflower at the wheel.

I'd really like to see Tammy driving one of those around the yard giving kids rides at the roast.
So if ya are up to putting an engine in one for them, I'll give ya the punch Sawguy. ;)

Mooseherder

You sure that ain't a Penitentiary Bus? :D
Don't see no yeller on dat thing. ;D
