I was at the construction auction this weekend, and saw a 16" beam saw that looks like a makita, but is labeled Ryobi. It had some surface rust on the steel blade, but looked ok.....no bent plate. I won it for $150, got it home, and was pleased to find that it works and cuts just fine.  8)

Does anyone know when the makita saw was sold with the Ryobi name?

I used one in the early 90's and seem to remember them through Harbor Freight, I think its a Ryobi knock off of the Makita. I used a Skil 16" about that time too IIRC  ???.

The first chain mortiser I used was a ryobi.
