acually obtained a sceen from a real top soil screening maching 2 years ago and been thinkin ever since.  Started cutting some 12 by 12 a few days ago after working out a basic mechanical top soil screen design.  Stacked the 12 by tonight so......pictures to come...really hope it works as I have put my sawdust with some manure into my removed sawdust for years and have a mountain of the stuff. :D

I will want to see what you come up with. I am doing the same myself. I have four of the screens and use just one right now with the fork lift to manually screen. My wifey is rebelling. Joe

Maybe because she is the one helping me sift the dirt thru it. My thought is to put two or three of the screens end to end with one end higher than the other. Devise a shaker to separate the rocks and collect the dirt from underneath. What are you planning? Joe

I built a 3 sided box using 12 by 12 pine, then welded a 2x2 iron square to support a sceen from a motorized screener.  I tried it out last night when I got the welding done.  It works but needs some mods to be useful.

I built it 4 foot tall...... to tall can't see the bucket while shaking

I sloped it 4 inches front to back.......needs more tilt

my bucket has 2 side rings for chains.....gotta go makes it too easy to hit the box

went for a picture but batteries were dead so will try for one today but going to dentist at 8 this morning. :o

ok here is a picture of the modified version.  It works but I will say no amount of shaking  with the bucket makes anything happen except breaking the box or putting the screen into the middle.  It just doesnt screen.  So............... I put some of a bucket full onto the screen slowly and it screen then stops so I get offin the tractor and use a rake or hoe to finish.  Nice product but a little more work than I thought.  It is now 4 ft high in front and 3 foot in back.  The other two pics are a wall I made to back in a 40 ft storage trailer and some biggun rocks I dug out to do the wall :D

Alls you have to do is angle the screen more , letting the overflow go to the back , only to be picked up again and putting onto the screen another time ....   ;)

Nice job , makes for getting into the trailer a whole bunch easier .  8)

now If only the trailer makes the turn from the street into the new driveway. :o  The street is pretty narrow up here on the hill.

Started to redo the back yard yesterday, saving various plants, bushes and small trees.  Sure was a dream having sifted topsoild for transplanting and temporary storage.  Sure looks like my backyard is all rocks though from fist size to too big to lift with the loader. :D

Guess he figure it would be too much trouble too try and break that shipment eh? ;)

So, did 9 buckets screened today after getting 2 ton of 3/8 rock for the roof drip.  Definately more work than I wanted, but when you place that screened stuff on the ground the man rake is all thats needed. ;D :D ;D :D

Climber

Hey, I got an IDEA!
Get used springs from car/truck connect them to your 12x12 and make some kind of connections to the screen frame. I think it will work much better.
How many yards do you have to screen? Don't count sawdust. I think you got about 20 yards of it.
By the way can I bring my top soil to screen? I got about 10 yards.
Or we should rent one for the day.... Will be faster and easy.

woodmills1

welcome climer................ hey I know you :)

yes by all means  load your soil, bring it over, screen it then load it and haul it home :D :D :D :D :D :D

and the sawdust mixes right in nice

Figured I would post a few pics

the  first is the new redone side yard with topsoil and plants back in place  this part of the yard was just bad with no grass and badly contoured soil

The second is the rework of the back yard, it was so overgrown with plants and weeds, and also had a bad attempt at a deck.  Here it is redone, but no topsoil or plants back in place.

and the third is a long shot of the back with the three metavic loads of firewood I cut and split today.  Yes I know I should did fire wood a few months ago, but it woulda made it hard to recontour and place the nice pad I put in friday.
