Went out around 10 and moved truck over to blue ox to hook up and unload firewood logs I picked up a few days ago, then backed trailer up to mill to use it to hold the 4x4's I wanted to cut

started sawmill to warm it up and started tractor.  edged the leftovers from yesterday and sticker stacked them.  Backed up the tractor and picked up a bucket of sawdust to stay ahead of the mill debris, and then unloaded the trailer full of slabs from yesterday and dumped the sawdust.

drove tractor over to pile of pine bones and loaded 6 bigguns on trailer

yes those bones do make a product.  Unloaded the bones at the mill and started to cut 4x4

cut 4x4 and some jacket boards till 2:30.  got 40 4x and a total of 476 bd ft

Man, that ain't work, you have it too easy. :D It sure is a pleasure with the right equipment.

you sure are right

I remember how it was before I got the metavic.  I would pay the log truck guy a bit extra to make a nice pile, but it seems he had a knack for dropping a big lumpy log on top of a bunch of others.  I used to use 2 car jacks to get the big logs to start moving, and was forever moving the mill or dragging logs around behind the dump truck.

Once you get a grapple you won't go back.

I'll second that last statement...makes all of the difference when working alone.

here goes

some large maple that may yield some sawlogs for stair treads or be hard to deal with firewood

a few cords of maple firewood

some mixed logs maple and elm that can be sawn but much is firewood

mixed sawlogs, nicer cherry, nice elm, and pine with metal or center rot

nice firewood most oak some maple, may be a sawlog hiding in here

nice oak sawlogs in front, walnut and ash sawlogs behind and boney old pine in far rear

one 18 foot oak for a trailer job and one fair walnut in front with lumpy pine in rear that will go in my wood furnace

pine poles that will make 2 by stock or more 4x4 dunnage

get yourself a blue ox and really have some log stock.  Add to this the 70 thousand I sold and the 30 thou I cut so far. 8)

cut more 4x4 today and picked up another load of firewood, got in the house and there was a message from the steel company that they would be here friaday for more 4x4.  Its funny I started cutting them this weekend just to be ready for them.  Seems lately that I must be in tune with them as I get the idea to cut and they call. :D

I need a foresty trailer, but instead I went and bought a outdoor furnace.I looked and am still looking at a forestry trailer.Stopped and saw one in action and talked to the guy that had one about like the one you have. From what I can tell I would need a 60hp tractor to do what I want with the trailer.I want it to haul rocks too and some good size logs.I would really like to have one.Said that about the sawmill too and I have one now.

Nice stuff, is the truck in the pics the only truck you use with the Blue Ox and is the Payer road worthy?

I use my grapple to load the mill, load the truck, and even hold bundles of slab to cut into firewood size. It also has a great hydraulic winch.

my tractor is 30.5 horsepower, serious under power, but it does stuff way beyond its means.  Grapple plus winch means extra.

Yes the one ton is my truck, it gets pushed but it does fine.  My best days I load with the ox and ofload with the metavic.
