My good friend and I are as different as night and day.  He has lots of $$$ and does not spend it.  I have little $$ and spend it.  He is a liberal, I am a conservative. We seem to differ in every aspect of our lives ...except good conversation.  We can talk about all of our differing points of view and never get upset with each other.  It's almost like two boxers pounding on each other, then at the end of the bout hug each other and say, "good fight."  Tonight we talked about everything from the local school board to individual American freedoms and responsibilities.  And on each topic we debated opposing points of views.  Not once had we gotten upset that we could not change the others perspective.  It's nice to have one of these friends. :)

There's only one thing better than having a friend like that, and that's having several of them.  I'm kind of a middle of the roader, but I have some really good friends who are ultra-conservative, and others that are ultra-liberal.  I get along great with all of them because we are able to debate with respect.  Yep, RESPECT is what it's called.  Differing points of view are no reason for people to not respect each other.  It helps a lot for each party to realize and admit that they could be wrong about an issue. :)

I have a good friend who thinks so much like me we have a hard time keeping a good arguement going  ;)  ;D
I keep trying to get him on here so he can argue with someone else for a change.  :)

Marcel, it is quite o.k.to talk to yourself. It is even o.k. to answer. You are not in trouble until you ask yourself to repeat the question. ;D metalspinner, I too have a couple of close friends like that. We disagree on a lot of topics but respect each others opinions because we recognize that they are just that. If it gets heated we walk away and change the subject.
