Hey Gang,
I've been reading my "Induatrial Fluid Power" text book and collecting bits and parts. My first attempt at working with hydraulics will be to use hydraulic cyclinders to move the cam over A frame on my little log trailer and to power a hydraulic winch. Pretty simple stuff for a first timer but I'm still a little nervous.
My question is this, I want to run hydraulic cyclinders on both sides of the trailer at the same time. They will be connceted to the same A frame. Can I run one spool valve for both cyclinders at the same time with a "tee" in the line? Will there be a timing issue between the cyclinders? Will they pull equal?
Any help will be appreciated. Don't be shy I can take it.
  Merry Christmas,

If I understand correctly what you are doing, it should work fine.  Several farm implements around here are hooked up like that.

One valve going to 2 cylinders ain't a problem. Just a bout all front end loaders are hooked up that way. If you can, get a valve for the winch that has detents for both positions. That way you don't have to stand there and hold the valve handle. I have a home-made winch setup on my kubota. An old pto type winch off the front bumper of an old IH scout. Driven with a hydraulic motor through a chain and 2 sprockets. Mounts on the 3 point hitch and runs off the tractor hydraulics.

Thanks Faron and Pineywoods. Pineywoods, will the detent valve shut off if you get hung up while pulling something when it hits a preset pressure or do you need to be close by to shut it down? Seems a little scary to walk away while the winch is in motin.
Thanks, LedlieLogs

Good point.  Yes a valve off a log spliter has just such a feature. All hydraulic control valves have a pressure relief or "pop-off" that opens when the pressure exceeds a pre-set amount. Many are adjustable. The only time I leave the winch running is when I need to power out the cable.       and I don't make a habit of that, mine has a free-spool clutch.
