IS it worth ts salt ?
Im usully pretty sharp with a saw and make clean straight cuts . But their are times when i need to make some cuts, that dont lend to a free hand cut.

I haven't used one in many, many years... so I won't comment on them... but have you seen the rig this guy made? (scroll down)

Happiness... is a sharp saw.

I have one and it does good, but I only use it for things that won't show, such as end of timber cuts, and hogging out wood from places where I need it removed very fast.
Then I pare with a chisel to the line, and clean up all surfaces with a slick....

DITTO What Jim said. These attachments are great ---just don't think you can cut a "show" face with one. We use them for rough squaring of timbers prior to your tenon layout.

I can say the "Flying H"chainsaw rig is pretty good....at cutting purlins and joists that hide in pockets.  There are times it cuts perfect, but it is too inconsistent for show cuts.  I cut  my posts to length running a circular saw around 4x.
