I've come into the thread late, sorry...

I really like the logo, but agree regarding the tree colour.

I say keep the orange and blue in the main logo, but, change the tree to a really bright emerald green.

Then do another variation with the letters in the same green. I'm not sure whether this will make the letters too dark, that's why I say try it as a variation and post it for us to pick at ;)

I like #2, it's readable

I like #7, it's dignified

I like #8, it looks like a hippy bus.  ;D

1 and 2 are my picks.

I don't "quite" like the green in either, but can't pinpoint why. Might have a play tonight.

Well I'm probably a bit late with this reply. But I think Blue & yellow would be perfect. Eye catching!! And then get matching equipment...

I like your logo, but before you use it, assuming you will paint it on the door of your truck, take a paper copy and tape it on the truck and make sure you can read the tree service part.  I've seen lots of cool signs on trucks that you could not read from much distance.  Can you imagine cars chasing you around trying to read your sign?

I really like that design, Victor, especially the tree. Keep it.

The colours are another story. The real problem is that blue & orange tend to vibrate when you look at them together. It makes a very striking combination, but it also makes the viewer uncomfortable. That's not what you want when you're advertising a business.

There's no particular need to make the tree green if you're planning to extend the colour theme into the rest of your business -- things like machinery, tools, clothing, etc. What's important is to have a colour combination that stands out, but doesn't make the viewer feel uncomfortable.

Some combinations to try*:
  - warm yellow with blue (sunshine & clear skies & happy trees ;D).
  - red with blue.
  - orange and purple.
  - green and magenta (with yellow lettering..
  - green and yellow (think John Deere).

* Suggestions are from my wife, the artist.

Did research on signs years ago. Agree with printing full size logo and taping to trucks. Must be able to read from a distance. That is the most important part. Some color combinations do not work from a distance. There is material to help in selection of color, look on-line. I like the logo up close. Question is from 20'or 30' away, what does it look like against the color of your trucks?

The Original logo looks more like a person who is a Denver Bronco fanatic [no nothing wrong with those who of that mindset or any other for that matter] but in the wrong area those colors would not be welcomed [like Seattle for instance, or Oakland, and some others]  but depending upon the background color of the vehicle and the equipment it is put on the over all design layout is great, the color scheme is not bad, I prefer a dark forest green for the tree over "the lighter shades of pale" green okokokokok so I could have been an old hippee if they had not all went technical so qwik.

do some other things too, like a sample letter head, business card, and invoice, look to see what works on those smaller "bill boards" too, [my wife is in advertising and you would be surprised at what does not work in newsprint and they have to rework]

Thanks to all for comments. :)

The source of colors is STIHL. :D

Let's assume you don't know these businesses:
Nike, Adidas, HP, Dell, Coca-Cola, GE, GMC and so on and on.

By looking ONLY on logo of any company above can you tell what this company does?
I don't think so. Other words logo is not reflection of company activates rather opposite – you know the company you have seen the logo and now you see it again and "click" in your sub-conches: yep it's truck from Happy Trees.

To help identify what we do I'll write with 2 feet letters:
