Pro's and Con's of this machine?
I know it's pretty small but I'm not going into the lumber business. Just a couple of logs a week.
Thanks!

The biggest "con" is it is from northern toolhttps://forestryforum.com/board/index.php?action=position"> Note:Please read the Forestry Forum's postion on this company....on our 6!@#%^&* list for selling knock-off LogRite tools...
....'nuf said about anything else they sell...it's all under the same roof.

I think others sell the Norwood mill....and members here have them.

norwood sells the norwood sawmill and if i am correct they do appear to be a sponsor at the left of the screen.
as far a sthe lumber lite i would say it would do what you ask a couple logs per week, as long as they were not large logs. do your home work and never be afriad to ask questions.

I couldn't agree more about Northern and it would be nice if I could say I'm not ever coming back....and mean it! :D

I just called Northern and talked to Dale.....Nice fellow and has a way of explaining the mill in Stupid Compliant, terms. :-[

I'm going to do a little more reading and might just buy it next week. It's not a Woodmizer but it's also less than half the cost.

Peter, looked at the mill from Northern....has no real track way, just another "timber toy"....Better talk to Marty

gotta ask what your needs are?

I just went through the painfully exciting process of selecting a mill, and i'm going through the painful process of waiting for it to get here... ;D
...I looked at the "personal mills" the LT10 and lumberlite both,
as well as Ripsaw, and I have a chainsaw mill...the decision i made was to go with the lt15
for a bunch of reasons...could not afford bigger (yet) didn't like the dinky construction in the little mills and they are under powered...went with the WM company because of their track record, customer service and quality of construction...and high resale value..

I won't say ill of another company, but there is a reason I ride Harleys, swing Stihls and bought a WM mill..better to spend a bit more  good tools (toys!) that will last...

If you are going to get the Norwood, they seem to be good folks to work with, but i'd recommend the LM-2000...it's an exponentially better mill.
Got Wood?
LT-15G GO chassis added.
WM sharpener and setter
And lots of junk.

I sent Marty an email but haven't heard back from him yet. If I can find a used WM in the same general price range, I'll go that route. A new one is out of the budget I set though. I just won't use it that much.

Have you checked sawmill exchange...there are some mills on there might fit the bill...

I would call Norwood (on there dime) and talk to the people that make the mill, there people can tell you a lot more about it then some salesman at that OTHER place.
If it can't be nailed or glued then screw it

I did call Norwood. I'm not going to buy from Northern,,,I can get it direct from the Manufacturer.

I checked the sawmill exchange also. Everything was too high end. I still have some looking to do and I expect I'll see Marty on Tuesday.

I run a lumberlite, and could not be any happier for what I do.  I only have modest goals for this mill, and it works. I mounted it on the original wooden mounts as instructed, and now after most of a year I just rebuilt onto heavier I beams to firm the whole thing up. I have never felt it to e underpowered for my use, but I have never run a WM or anything either. Have sawn out a barn and a deck, along with lots of learning stuff. I know I have already paid for mine, and it wont take you long to pay for yours.

Only picture I have of my barn right now.

thats what i have and it just keeps on a goin. get one extra rail set then look at my pics to see how to extend it even further. i got the 6.5 hp and it cuts plenty fast for me. bought a 13hp honda clone off of ebay just never got around to changin it out yet. i have had a 32" log on it but shaving it down and turning it was no fun 24"'s are great.
for the money i don't think you'll find anything better.

I just read my post again about calling....

I called Norwood and spoke to Dale....not Northern.

A mind is a terrible thing to waste :-[

peter,
I have a LM 2000 that I drove to Buffalo and picked up. I have found that Dale and the others that I have talked to at Norwood are always helpfull. They also have a forum on thier web site with customers views on what works.
It's not one of the big boys, but I don't think you will dissapointed in it untill you have to handle BIG logs on it with no hydraulics :o

Very happy with our Norwood LM2000  with the 23hp briggs and scrap iron motor.  It will be 2 years in march.  The only problems I have had were, well um.....sadly....um.....self inflicted. :-X ;D :D  Norwoods customer service is second to none. One of our mill pics might be on their new brochure!!!!!  I however run cooks sawmill mfg. blades on my mill.  About $18 per blade vs $32 for norwoods.  No regrets, the lumberlite is small.  But the frame can be beefed up cheap and easy if needed.   8)
