I'm thinking of making my guest bedroom more of an office.  Right now, the bed takes up way too much space, and I maybe have friends or family over night maybe five times a year.  It just feels like wasted space in there, and right now I don't really have an office.  I've begun thinking of making a Murphy bed.  Anyone made one?  Do they work just fine?  I'd imagine there are some kits out there with all the hardware ready to go already, all you would need to do is build the casing.  Just starting to cogitate a little...   :P

Its fairly straight forward to make , more or less a double casing , one for the mattress and one for this to go into .... Lee Valley has the kit , that is where I got mine . And no , I have no pics , this is way before pics where an unforgetable aspect of life .   :) But ....you will be required to have some .  ;D :D

I have openned the Lee Valley catalogue and they have the two kits available and also plans for malking the Murphy bed . Single or double .

One kit can be a horizontal lift or can be made a vertical lift and is piston lift .
priced at 289$ canadian ( double or queen )

The other is a spring lift kit and is a vertical lift . two spring kits that weight 12lbs each are atttached to the inside of the outside box to the outside of the inside box .
priced at 219$ CDN ( double)

Plans are 9.50$ CDN

Hope this can help you some.
