Great choice 8)  Don't forget to post in the "Iron Inventory" your mill.     Us Swingmiller's are a minority and could use another swingmill supporter.  You and woodsteach as far as I know are the only Brand X'rs out there.  Wait till you have a few of your buddies watch you run it.  They're eye's will bug out with amazement .   I love it.  I was showing off this week end cutting 1x8s fir,  a friend pulled up to the mill about the time I just sharpened my blade and had  24" log half cut,  I decided to pump it up a bit and did a little hustling, he jumped in and started pulling green chain and I could keep him swamped. ;D  He said that thing is fast.  I said Ya...wish I invented it  ;).

With all these brands of swingmills (or near swing) I was wondering who actually came out first; not that it matters, just curious.  I saw a year or so ago that Peterson lost a patent battle in NZ (could have been Oz) with Lucas but couldn't figure out what it meant if anything.

Carl Peterson "my father",

Came up with the first commercial swingblade in 1986. Once owner of Peterson sawmills.

Carl is not associated with Peterson Sawmills anymore I might add.

He lost the patent dispute that Lucas was bringing forward to him in 2002. But in the end in front of 4 supreme judges he came out on top and won the case in 2005. This case is yet to be finalised in regard to costs etc.

Lucas distributed for Carl for 2 years and then came up with their own mill hence the court preceedings (initiated by Lucas).

ECOSAW popped up around the same time as Carl (you'll get some conflicting info here  :).
