Last Saturday my son Aaron and I decided we were going to do a little "logging" so we loaded up the truck and headed to the nearest forest near Amidon ND, about 200 miles away.

We had a great day and met some nice folks at the Logging Camp Ranch. This fall we will be going back to do a little logging and sawing (but no milking). Here is a link to a little picture story about our day and what us "prairie dogs" have to go through to go logging.

Mile 50 and no trees in sight

We finally found some

DanG if that DonT remind me of South Dakota.  Mark, 195 miles is a long way to go to see a tree.  I think I would have stopped and cut down some of those telephone poles or fence post and made boards outta them. :D

That's quite a show Mark. Spent some time in S. Dakota while my brother was at Ellsworth AFB and it looked pretty much the same as your pictures. Stopped at Wall Drug on one of our trips and that was quite a site also. You look pretty close to the smileys on the forum in that yellow hardhat. Thanks for the pictures, enjoyed them.

Sure don't want to show those pictures to Mary or else she'd be wanting to go. ;)

Why didn't you just take your mill along and bring back the boards?

Shopteacher - yep it is a lot like the Black Hills except it has the Badlands as a backdrop. It don't get no better :)

Bibby - That's what I am hoping to do this fall. This fellow has some cabins he rents and he wants to build a new one. He just cuts 2 sides of the log and then stacks them up. I told him I would come out and saw them for him in exchange for some logs for myself.

The Logging Camp Ranch is a really nice place if you want to get away from it all. About 20 miles from the nearest anyting. Out there the ranches are pretty big so in many places you can't even see the next one. They are going to have a Blue Grass event on July 26th with some music, cowboy poets, beef and bison to eat, etc. I think I'm going to go.

I sure did wanna look at those pics but there was no "next" button anywhere on the page - except "next topic" - so I tried that and got a look at a lot of grandkids but now "lumbering" whatever.
Is it possible that I don't have the complete download here?  Maybe some software that I didn't that I shoudda or something?  I mean I've looked things over carefully and it's just not here - how do I look at the rest of 'em?

Thanks
