Found these growing on some old pine stumps in the back garden.
Not sure what they are, but havent seen ones of this size or type before.

Another stump with a smaller / newer crop growing.

Oh, the spores will be flying!  Those look like fruiting bodies of wood decaying fungi.  I have never eaten one of those.

The first ones look like ravioli mushrooms to me, with marinara sauce. (Can you tell I'm waiting for dinner?) :D

I found a stray morel shroom in my backyard yesterday myself, though I ran over part of with a wheel of my lawnmower, so it got squashed before I could put it in butter.   ::)

I'm catching up to this one late, as usual!

We had a great year for mushrooms, all around the poplar and ash trees. lots of black morels and later some white.

In front of my deer stand is a nice poplar stand, they are mature and I had talked to my forester about taking them down to expand my feed lot. Well this year that is where we found the most shrooms. I'm thinkin about leaving them now.

Now the interesting thing is that last year I spread about 80 lbs lime around this area and 50 lbs  10-10-10 fertilizer and planted my feed lot mix. I overseeded with buckwheat and refertilized in late september. Then in Feb of this year I limed again.  This spring is when the shrooms came up so good in this plot. It looks like the trees can stay and the feed lot can be planted around them and the shrooms don't seem to be bothered by all the disturbance.

The old guys in the valley say that this year was a very good year for Morels
