Hi Splitter, never seen one. Interesting video the fact it splits as well as cuts in one operation is interesting. If your customers wanted smaller pieces it might be an issue. The Chomper has a different way of doing the same thing. I suspect the E-zee is much cheaper. I just had a quick look, do they give any info about diameter capacity or cords per hour? I have been using a 14" Chomper that a buddy bought. He is hiring out at 100/hour custom cutting which he does not really want to do. He would rather sell the processed wood by the cord. make a buck where you can.

Sawdust, You have a lot richer friends than I do. I'm building my shear for myself I believe its the simpliest and cheapest thing I can build. And I enjoy a challenge. Don't get to work on it as much as I'd like to, must keep working have a girl in college. Thanks for the reply. Splitter

Hey Splitter: this one handles 8' wood and its sole purpose is to advance the wood one piece at a time.It is continuous but can go either way. Spikes are only needed on one side,They act as picks to move the wood but are not so agressive as to cause you grief when she fetches up for some reason. The wood in this one is 10"+, this was a piece of aluminum ibeam with sides cut off an old dumpbox.  Later... Stephen

Stephen Alford, what a great picture, can you tell me what size chain that is? I really like the looks of that piece. I learn something everday. Thanks so much for your input. Splitter

Hey Splitter; those links are 2 1/2" by 4" .That size chain for your application will result in minimal maintenance.  Scrap yards are a good source. Good luck ! Stephen :)

Sawdust, just got the 28 gal. pump, took all my change. Got the pump hooked up to the motor yesterday. Thanks for your post. Splitter

Splitter, what pump did you buy? I just got a line on a surplus straight 6 ford gaspot.

Sawdust, ordered it from Bailey, I believe it is a Halex?

Splitter what are you using for power?  I put in a $200 bid on a ford straight 6 I am guessing 300cid. From a college.

I was looking at variable displacement axial flow pumps 33gpm at 1800 rpm max psi about 3300.
this would run a 6" cylinder 24 inch stroke full cycle in 7 seconds. They did not give a price and I'm afraid to ask!

Sawdust, I've got a Briggs&Straton 18.5 hp I/C that I've hooked to my 28gal two stage pump, came off of a riding lawnmower. According to what I've read this should do the job due to my pump being two stage. Don't know how fast it will work my 7.5 inch piston. I guess rather slow. Don't want to work to fast in cutting firewood anyway. Splitter

well I got the winning bid! twice! they are ford 300 6 engines with a clutch and governor. 200 each.

Picked them up! No clutch and no governor. One of the engines has not been run! At least the paint on the pulleys is not worn off nor does the exhaust manifold look like it has ever been hot. Both need frost plugs.

they are 300 g motors inline 6

My beast dodge rode real nice with the two of them back there.
