My wife E-mailed me this. I dont have any info other than the fact it is in South Africa, I wish I did.

Holey Moley!  That IS awesome!  The carvings on it are exquisite, too.  I hope you can find out more about it.

That little stream is right pretty too.  Looks like there oughta be a big ol' Bluegill hangin' out under those bonnets. ;D

Actually Dan, I know there are a few members here that are from Africa and I was hoping they knew some info on it.
My wife sent this to me nearly a year ago and I saved the photos just to put on here when I finally figured out how to post them. Well I figured it out about a week ago and just now remembered these.

Well, I'd say ya got the pic posting thing down pretty well.  You did a great job with them.  I'd sure like to know what kind of tree that is.  Maybe one of the Google experts can come up with some info.

Well, I am truely disappointed. The e-mail my wife sent me didnt say anything about this being an all natural tree, just that it was in south africa. I figured there was some talented carvers in the local vilage that had a go at it or something. Now I am sorry for posting this, oh well.
Thank you Ian for finding out more about it, I was  hoping for a better story on it though.

It is still a very cool 'tree'.  I watched a show (on Discovery Channel, I think) about how it was created.  Truly remarkable feat of engineering.

We saw it when we were last at Disney, quite a piece of work.

When I saw that first picture I just knew that "tree" was in Florida. The sky looked just like the sky I saw when I was in Florida. ::) ;D

Texas Ranger

It was patterned after an African baobab tree, and they are as fantastic as this fiber glass one.

you still might not be able to "see" them, isawlogs. The pictures aren't in French, they are in Braille.  :D :D

Really interesting tree. Well carved too.

Sorry Okie, nice pics though. I have been to this tree twice in the last couple of years with the little ones. The tree  is truely a work of art. You have to really get up close to determine that it is not real. A tremendous amount of effort went into it's creation.
