I'm looking for something that I can put on the end of my moulder that will tell me how many linear feet have went through it. I have seen them mounted with a little wheel that contacts the wood and increments every foot. I have looked in the Grizzly cataloge and couldnt find one.

LOWES! Get a handheld LF counter that you roll on the ground, take off the handle and mount it to the moulder( and ripsaw) I can send a pic if needed

Any luck on your sales trips?

Get one of the walking measuring wheels and modify it. You can find them at hardware and big box stores. He beat me to the punch.  :D

Oh yea, get one that reads 9999', I've had some big jobs, and you have to watch it if the counter only goes to 999'. Yuor stressed & tired & have to ask-"was that 3k or 4k?" :)

I was thinking way too complicated. One of those counters would work good.

Justin good idea to put one on the ripsaw too. Lumber run trips went fairly well this year. The Indy one was by far the smallest. I dont do them in the winter months so next one will be in march or April

Harbor freight has one for about $10, it is probably not as nice as the one for $395 at the tooling supply but mine works well.

We mounted ours on a table using some pipe and kept one pipe joint loose so the wheel can move up and down easily.  With being on a table, we can move it out of the way when not needed.  Definitely go with the 9999 version.

Also don't forget to reset when you get ready to run the next batch.

They don't call you Radar for nothin! 57- My age, plus the ages of my four kids! 38+8+6+4+1= 57.  I wasn't REALLY thinking about that, but it does add up...:)

Okiemac- if you have time, maybe you can swing down here in January. I think we're going to have an open house mid Jan to get some sales going. Not much ever happens in Jan so I figure it's the best time to do one! Plus we past the five year mark this year, so we have a good excuse for having a sale & some BBQ. I'll be sure to post an announcement when the ime gets close.

Ok, I'm getting way far away from the counter topic...

Maybe so, but you're stomping all over the ultimate topic for each post ...... FOOD ;D

So it was HEINZ 57! Is it kinda like the guy who went to the shrink- every ink blot reminded him of sex. Then he accussed the shrink of drawing all the dirty pics! :)

Everything we say reminds you of food? I got it. I assume you'll be at the open house then? Walnut, Cherry, Maple, Butternut, Hickory, PORK- we'l have it all!!!

Justin, I'd love to swing on down there. I was kind of hoping to pick your brain and have you show me how to run some of those cool machines you have. Just let me know when.

Here's a 5 digit (10,000ft) one for 15 bucks - might be junk for all I know...

BTW "plus the ages of my four kids! 38+8+6+4+1= 57" you need a counter real bad don't you?  :D

Justin L

That was MY age PLUS the ages of my four kids (mine was the 38 :)
