Here are a couple pics of a spruce we cut this past Sunday. These are 10 ft long and 24" and 20" at the top. This is all we could haul for a sleigh load on each machine. The rest of the tree is still in the woods hope to get in next week if the weather holds and get the rest.

Out of town now on business. Hope it stays cold

we spent most of the day getting them . We first cut the tree then winched the sleigh up over the bank of the river , cut a path through the willows, put one log on each part of the sleigh and then winched them back down onto the river. hooked them to the snowmobiles and 20 kl later we were home.
this is the condensed version what is not mentioned is all the sweat lost and the couple of times we got stuck plus one roll over.
A fun day was had by all. We also had 50 kl of wind on the trip home and blowing snow, gotta love it

I understand why, but still sounds odd for someone wanting it to stay cold. ;D

Hey I wouldn't mind it staying cold for a while too if I had a way to get some logs outta da bush.  Got some inside word that a oil company that will be working in the area is going to be in need of a whack of blocking.  Got some logs out that will be ready to saw into blocking late spring or early summer, but they could probably eat up my inventory as fast as I could saw them out.  Gotta get my mill deal worked out for the buyback too.

Did you have a little root pull on this one?

Hi Quebecwewf  !!!  very nice logs, nice 2X12 in. in those..Over here some of my friends that were logging with fowarder are out of the woods.....to many snow, they cannot pull.  I had my 2 vans of hard wood for firewood on time.  Have a nice day, take care.................Roger

It was not root pull but a barberchair. Poor cutting job on this one I was really *pithed. I hate to do that.

Weather is still holding so maybe I will get back in to get the rest of the tree. I hope so

Any chance of getting a picture of that stump on the top and side ?

Quebecnewf

Still out of town on business . If the weather holds when I get home I plan to go back and take a couple of more lengths of the rest of the tree. Hopefully this will happen as I really hate to see this amount of wood.

How is your winter this year? Haven't heard from you for awhile, and been wondering if you are still above the ice and snow.

Hope all is going well.

I'd like to see some pics of the stump also. :) You might get a little "constructive critcism" though. ;)  Maybe keep you from barber-chairing the next one.

Note that I bumped up an old thread here from a year ago, and that may need to be considered in replys.  ;D ;D

And I don't think quebecnewf needs any "constructive criticism", if you follow the story of the cutting in deep snow. As I remember, he knows his stuff in the woods. And we all know, every tree cut isn't perfect by the book.  ;D ;D

My mistake not noticing the date on the original post. ;D ;D

The "constructive criticism" part was just trying to be helpful. :)

I'm looking at the horizon on those pics and I don't see any trees.  Where's the woods at? :D

Go back to Quebecnewf's previous posts, and you find some very interesting reading...and a whole new meaning to "tough logging" and "tough conditions".

Hope he is doing well this winter.
