Anyone install a light so they can see into the firebox at night?   I have the CL-6048 and trying to hold a flashlight and stir ashes or load wood with one hand it tough.   I'm thinking of adding a light on the outside that will shine into the firebox.  I've got a few ideas but would like to see and hear what others have tried.    Anybody done this that can post pictures of what you came up with?
Been there, done that.   Never got caught [/b]

There are some cheap magnetic lights that you can probably stick to the outside and shine into there.  the ones I'm thinking about have the neck that can bend around and then stay & shine where ya want them...

I looked at a few, but none would give enough light where I wanted it.  I ended up putting a cap on with one of those cap lights on my the bill.  Works great, is very easy, and it points wherever I am looking!

May be a pole with a motion sensing light mounted to shine back at the unit.

I use an LED head lamp that way it is there and directed where I am looking in the fire box, the wood pile, where ever it is needed.

My furnace is pretty close to my shop so I wired a two bulb spotlite that you can adjust the angle on each bulb separate , I have one angled right at the door opening and one shining straight out where I bring my tractor in with wood . Put up a weather proof switch out beside the stove in the lean-to , works great !!! If you don't have a building close enough you could mount the light on a tree .

trapper

I put a metal carport in front of my central boiler to store wood and put a motion detector light in the middle of the roof.Gives me light when I walk close to the furnace and shines into the firebox. Only problem is birds like to build a nest on  top of the light.  Anyone with a solution for this?

I have one of those cordless 18 volt dewalt work lights that is the lantern type that works like a snakelight. I just set it on something aiming towards the door. It does a very good job and is plenty bright.

I have mine under a shed so there is always a 4 wheeler or tractor nearby to set it on. This was one of the first concerns I addresed - wanting to see inside better even during the day.

I do the led headlight for cheap money you get both hands free and you can shine the light exactly where you want it. they even make them up to 3 watt if you need a searchlight on your head.
