We had the pleasure of being introduced to Doc. Scott thru a mutual friend this past weekend. :)
Our 3 day jaunt to NE Georgia was packed with events and way too short.

We spent Saturday at Doc's farm.  There sure was an awful lot to look at, gander and participate. :)
I took a lot of pictures and video.  I hope to remember the details but also am hoping the good Doc. will join us here to tell us more about it.

The first Video shows him hooking up the Draft team.  They hadn't worked in a while and he was also hooking up another Man's horse/stallion along side his team as the gentleman had just purchased the horse a few weeks ago and was wanting to see how he performed with the work and also with other horses.

The house in the background was built around a 1798 one room home Doc bought, dismantled and moved to this site.  It is their Den and they built the home around it.  Really unbelievable inside.

Doc. Scott put himself thru Vet School by dismantling and reselling 18th and 19th century homes and barns.
There is also another 19th Century Cabin on the property along with an Amish Barn.

He also prefers the older methods over using a tractor.  He does have one but seems like he would only pull it out as a last resort. ;)

Nice!  Did you drive at all?  I've been learning to drive and its a blast.  I like percherons the most.

Mooseherder

Yes, he did let me drive. 8)
He gets me going and then jumps off and says "I'm gonna get off before someone gets hurt. :D

The area was a little tight around the Chicken Coop where his son wanted to plant potatoes but he did show me and let me loose. :)

Lifting the tiller arm and putting it down each pass was hard on the shoulders.
Didn't feel it so much yesterday but I'm sore today. ;)

His German Sheperd "Sadie" made me miss my Bruno. :'(
Notice the Split Rail Locust fence everywhere.

Looks like a pretty good day for you MH. I bet Doc's the kind of guy everyone likes to be around. Any man with horses that good and a nice dog too, can't be all that bad.

There is something special about working horses. My Grandfather also had a tractor but used the horses most of the time. He was also known as Doc.

Back before I was around much he mainly had Percherons but as he got older he switched to Belgians. He also had a few others that I can remember. One was a Suffolk mare. She was not as big but would really pull for her size. She handled her end of the double tree.

I miss those days. My cousin has Belgians but does not use them as much as my Grandfather.

That team looked like they settled down after a couple of rounds and worked good. Thank you for sharing and by all means Doc if you want to add more video I would be glad to watch it also.

"Said the sparrow to the robin, Friend I think it must be, they have no heavenly father, such as cares for you and me."

Doc's son is working for another Farmer planting Potatoes with mechanical equipment while he is going to school.  It was his wish to plant a plot of Potatoes at Dad's farm.

Here he is getting the ground ready with Doc.  He was trying to get a little deeper till than what was happening.  I was called away before they finished and caught the last part of Scott bringing out the big gun.
They got that deep rich soil up to the surface with it. ;)

The 1880 Building is up close to the road.  It had been moved down from Virginia(or was that Kentucky)
The Amish built Barn is on the right. :)

The videos were great MH. I showed them to my mare, Becky, and she is still traumatized at the thought of me actually thinking she might work.  :)

Does Doc have folks come "play" on his farm for a fee?
Women are Angels.
And when someone breaks our wings....
We simply continue to fly ........
on a broomstick.....
We are flexible like that.

No, he doesn't charge but does mention he became a Vet just so he could become a broke farmer. :D
He also hosts Farm field days in the community every year along with other groups.
