Hello! This is my first post! My name is Brad Dawson, I reside and was born and raised in Southern Illinois. I just purchased 50 acres of country property recently, had some of it logged, and just bought a new saw, and was looking for some information on saws and came across this site. I love all of the information this site has, I will be around alot now. The saw I purchased (after owning several homelites and poulans) is a Husqvarna 350 with an 18" bar. I have only been cutting with it now for 2 days, but I can tell you it is one heck of jump from the other saws I am used to! Does anyone else have one of these and what do you think of it? Thanks!!

  Welcome to the forum, Typhoon.  I'm a 30 year Stihl man, myself. ;D

   First, it is ridiculed;
   Second, it is violently opposed; and
   Third, it is accepted as self-evident.

Welcome to the forum, This is the place for information :P

CHARLIE

Welcome to the forum Typhoon!  There are a lot of chainsawing threads in the Chainsaw catagory. Me, I've just got a little Craftsman lightweight with a 19" bar. I do mostly woodworking and woodturning so it serves me well. Someday maybe I'll be able to move up to a Husky or a Stihl. You'll enjoy this forum. There are a lot of great people on here and everyone is so nice, humorous and helpful.  I love it here!.

Hey Brad Welcome Aboard,
I'm not that far away from ya in Sparta. Man you have hit on the right spot for information, and then some.

I have a stihl, poulan and a husky. Buchheits up here in sparta runs a stihl sale every fall, hoping to get a new one then.

Again, Welcome
Got my WM lt40g24, Setworks and debarker in oct. '97, been sawing part time ever since, Moving logs with a bobcat.

350 is a good saw, keep the chain sharp and properly tensioned, the bar dressed, air filter clean, and use only fresh fuel with the proper mix and it will serve you well.
Fill up the fuel and chain lube before it runs out and never store gas in your saw for extended periods .

I'm running a Husky now also.  I did the Homelite/Poulan route for a while and this Husky is head and shoulders above them.  I went for the 372 with a 20" bar and got a 32" waiting int the wings (I been skeered to put the 32" on!)  I did some limbing after I dropped a few trees using the Husky and yesterday I bought a used Poulan 16" for doing limbing.  The Husky seemed to be gaining weight even as I used it!!!!  Husky is a good saw!!

Congrats. You've picked a good forum to exchange idears on. Good luck with your projects. There are a number of references to logging safety on this site.

I've the 351 Husky. Over the past year it has been a good saw, no problems.
