Greetings,

I own some land in south central Colorado which has
some infested areas. :(  >:( I am felling any small to medium
size trees that appear to have a lethal level of infection.
Most seem to be Subalpine Firs (?), with some pond-
erosas and Lodgepoles also.
Tree cover is a Douglas Fir, Subalpine Fir,
Ponderosa, Lodgepole, Aspen mix at around 9000'.
Would Blue Spruce be a good choice for re-planting
or should I stick with species already present? What would
be the fastest growing species?  ???  :)

(commercial aspect unimportant)

It would be best to get a local recommendation from the "local" Extension Service, Conservation District Forester, or professional consuling forester.

Your management objectives and the capability of your ecosystem and the extent and effects of the infestation should be determined for the appropriate species to plant.
