I want to get a Makita Electric Chainsaw to round out my saw collection.
The UC3500 is an older model that the dealer has 1 leftover.
The UC3530 is the new model and it has the no tools needed to adjust chain feature.
Does anyone have any experience with these saws?
I would buy the new model but not sure how good the chain adjust feature is.
Thanks for your help.

I have not used a saw with this feature before, so I am not speaking from experience, but I personally wouldnt buy a saw with the quick adjust feature, rather have a tried and true bolt and screw adjuster than new and questionable quick adj, JMO...and maybe you could save some $ on the last year model too, seeing as it has been replaced with new model...hope it helps

It would depend on your level of competence and comfort with tools. I will guess that the Makita toolless adjust is modeled after Stihl's version. My father bought one of those Stihls because his hands are weak in his advanced age. I tried it and think it's a total POS waste of time that makes replacing the chain much more difficult. It is also difficult to get proper tension, it's either too loose or too tight. It is a 'feature' that looks good in the brochure and sells lots of units to people unfamiliar with using a real saw, but a waste of time for those who already know how to adjust a chain.

Hey, forgot to add...I did read a post here where someone had bought a smaller gas saw with this feature, believe was a stihl 180, and they said that they had liked it...seeing as this was smaller, lighter duty saw, as would be the electic, may be ok for your needs...again, hope it helps
