For Mother's Day, our children and their families came to our house for a delicious egg bake and grits breakfast.  During the meal, my daughter-in-law told the following story.

She was invited over to neighbor ladies house for a "Hen" party (my terminology). The hostess prepared Mohitos for everyone to drink as they talked. As they drank it, they noticed it had a strange flavor to it and began discussing it.  So the hostess went and checked the herb plants and discovered that she had used Catnip instead of mint in the drinks. :D

This is what a Mouito Recipe is supposed to be:
1.25 oz spiced rum
12 mint leaves
1 tbsp sugar
0.5 oz lime juice
2 oz soda

This is what they got: ;D
1.25 oz spiced rum
12 Catnip leaves
1 tbsp sugar
0.5 oz lime juice
2 oz soda

Though I've heard of catnip before, I really did not know what it truely is. Here is something I read.

K'Eogh, in his Irish Herbal (1735) wrote of catnip, "It provokes urination and menstruation: it expels the stillborn child; it opens obstructions of the lungs and the womb, and is good for internal bruises and shortness of breath. Drunk with salt and honey, it expels worms from the body." ***

So Charlie, did it work as predicted?  :D :D
Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.

CHARLIE

It must have.  She was alive and kickin' and didn't complain of having any worms. ;D
