Howdy all,
Well i just got some 10 degree blades from woodmizer double hards.  I've been running the 9 degree blades with smaller gullet as i thought i ran a lot of hard stuff.  man the 10 degrees run a lot faster, and last a lot longer!  Don't know why there is such a difference but even in my 12" wide white oak cuts the 10 degrees work better.  Its weird.  I've used these on my old LT40 gas 25 kohler mill and didn't really notice a difference between 9 and 10 degree blades, but on my "new" 15hp electric mill i really see a difference.

Also i'm worried my sharpening and setting isn't such a good idea.  man when i get a new blade on there it really is something.  I wonder if i sharpen and set a couple of times if that screws up the sharpening at Resharp?  Seems like they go downhill the more i work on them, but mabye its just that i hit crap and its hard to bring them back around when they have knocked into something.  Guess thats why Resharp chucks them.  Also i had bought munks and red streak which i think are 10 degree blades that might be similiar in design to woodmizer's but, they sure don't act the same on my mill.  I know that a lot of you guys with big motors get a lot different performance out of your blades then us little guys do, b/c we can't go very long with a dullish blade, and can't run the thicker wider bands.

Wish i could replicate the 10 degree gullet on my old blades, i've got about 30 of them.  Does the woodmizer sharpener take a different cam for 10 degree blades than the 9 degree, or do i just adjust the hook angle and adjust the stone face?  Seems like i could make it cut a deeper gullet, but i'm having a hard time following the profile on the new blades.
Thanks
kelvin

Wood-Mizer has a blade selection gizmo on their web site that helps select blades based on HP and wood.

It don't tell the exact specs of each blade though so it's hard to know more than the width, thickness and tooth angle.

You could call WM blades and talk to one of the folks there.  They'd tell you the specs on the blade you like the most and then maybe you can get fixed up with the cam you need. I know they use to have different cams for different profiles.
