I have a Stihl 070 and would like to know when it was made.

The serial number is   803 1953

I know that manufacturing of these saws started in 1968, so I guess the 1953 part of the serial number bears no relevance.

I mix a 33:1 fuel oil mixture using Husqvarna XP oil for this saw.  Is this correct?  I have read that the 070 should be running at 20:1.  All my other modern saws I run at 50:1.

Thanks very much

1953 predates that saw .It however was made long enough ago that they just gave the fuel and oil ratios based on the usage of 30WT motor oil used for mix oil .

Any modern mix oil in ratios of from 32 to 1 to 50 to 1 should work just fine .

In my own little life I personally run everything at 32 to 1 from 1957 vintage up to 2000's era stuff .Others do likewise at 50 to one and have real good luck .So at that point it's just a personal preference . Then again people like to argue about it but they would argue about what time of day it is too .No big deal . :D

Use the same mix as your other saws.
