Has anyone heard of a new logging equipment company called PUMA?  I drove past a manufacturing plant the other day in Wisconsin with a name PUMA.  I asked a guy at the gas station and he said they are going to make logging equipment.
Big plant...  Does anyone know anything about them yet?

There's a Case tractor called PUMA. I think it's between 130-160hp.

It's not Case, new logging equipment company.  Oconto Falls, WI.
They have a placeholder in the website.
www.pumaequipment.com  Looks like forwarders, grinders, harvesters,etc...(From the site)

A little research will lead you to this company.

Jeff, how did you do that?

It's hard to believe that anyone would seriously try to get into that business right now. That is not far from that very nice Timbco plant (now owned by Komatsu) in Shanno, WI.

But it doesn't cost much to put up almost blank web sites.  ::)
Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.

Easy. By using a whois search to see who owns the first domain name of the website and following the trail. http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/index.jsp

pumaequipment.com is owned by norcoequipment.com who in turn is owned by spectrum-business.com whose CEO is Don Dubey. and a search of Don Dubey returns his linked in page that says:

I think there is more to it than that one person.  Look here.

Did a little more research and Don used to be a VP of a company down south called Pioneer Machinery.  Biggest logging distribution in the nation.  They have a facebook account and it says that they will be at the Vermont show.  Crazy to think someone would start a machinery company now, but if they have money, it might be a good time.

The rumored PUMA company had their first PUMA 409 Forwarder at the Michigan TPA meeting.  Don't know much about it, but 9 ton capacity. They also had a harvesting head at the show.
I am a fan of their facebook page.  They just uploaded a pic of the forwarder.

For the record, Norco has acquired over 6 existing manufacturers over the last 7 to 8 months. Lane Recycling, grinders of tub and Horizontal, Dynamic Conehead chippers, K2 Forwarders and harvestors. 409 4 wheel drive articulating and model 612 6 wheel drive articulating  forwarders and an 8 wheel drive version will be out in the near future. Harvestor is a model 220 and in the Dynamic side of the family, model 585B 530 HP whole tree chipper and a new 685 unit with 750 HP and a larger engine option also. 30" at the butt system. Many other models and a hand-fed division.
Their own processing heads CRS19 and there is a 23 also. Much much more to co ;)me from this company. Lots of people at executive levels with tons of forestry equipment history. More will be exposed as time develops.
NE, SE South central and Mid West are where you will find the initial focus but their international presence exists and will get much stronger.
