The annual EAA convention and airshow starts july 25 in Oshkosh Wi. I'm already there, working building people trams. Need 5 done by this sat. Anyone else coming? If so, look me up. I work in the maintenance shop behind the big red barn in the campground. Stick your head in the door and holler for Wayne. Staying in an RV in the resident campground. BTW for you timberframeers, the barn is a large example of timber frame construction.

When you are done at the air show you can go a bit west to Marshfield for the national trappers show the weekend of aug 8.  I will be helping out there.  I doubt it but if you need a break from the airshow I am 15 miles south.

whole place would make a good sea plane  base right now. 3 inches in a couple of hours this afternoon. Roads under a foot of water, lots of stuck rv's in the campground. Trapper, I go right through Madison on the way home, heading south. Thanks for the invite, I'll probably have a bad case of "get home itis" after sitting here for three weeks.

caver

I went once and then understood why some referred to it online as  O$h Ko$h.

caver may be implying it was expensive, but the times I've been there, it wasn't IMO.

There is a ton of work, energy, and money to put the show together and someone has to foot the bill. I'm guessing it probably is from volunteers, or from the gate receipts.

Used to be the cheapest was to buy a membership and get into the intersanctum, which is where you can walk among the hundred's of parked planes of every discription. Once there, there are no additional fees. So they don't nickle and dime you to death (unless things have changed).

It is cheaper than the price of one rock concert, I know that.  ;D

Beenthere's got it right. Without the hundreds of volunteers, some of whom have been here for months, this event would never happen, it would be too expensive. I've been a regular for over 30 years, volunteering for the last 15.
