Well, it's official.  The ms361 is the best chainsaw in the world.  ;D

I was helping a younger friend last weekend who is building a house.  He had a bunch of trees to take down around the house site and he doesn't have his own saw.  I taught him the basics and took both the 361 and the 270c out.

It really isn't fair to compare these 2 saws.  They are not in the same league.  While the 270c is a great saw, it simply cannot compare to the 361.  With the bigger chain, more powerful engine, better power to weight ratio, etc...  it is simply an awesome chainsaw and I am very happy to own one.

My buddy still had a lot of work to do when I left him.  I let him borrow the 270c indefinitely.  The 361, I brought home with me.  ;)

The MS270 never was anything like great, just fair!   ::)

You are probably right.  The 361 is the first truly great saw I've ever had the privilege of owning.  Before that, the 270c was the best saw I'd ever owned.

If you only have one saw then it has to be a great saw, seeing as its your only option, right...lol

Sure, but I carefully "de-selected" the 270 in 2003, as well as the 3.5hp MS260, and got the 353. I still am sure I made the right choise, but regret I didn't get the 346xp - it was a lot more money though (about 40% when both are "on campaign") - and still is here..... :)

346xp?  Is that some sort of new version of the Windows operating system or something?  ;D

I own a MS 361 with a 20 inch bar, I think it's a great saw for what I do with it, I also have a MS 250 for small work.
Mainly all I do is cut fire wood and clean up around my property.
